2026 Lenten Challenge

Traditionally the 40-day Lenten season -- which, not including Sundays, runs this year from Feb. 18 (Ash Wednesday) until April 4 – is a time of fasting and repentance. Often Christians will sacrifice something – desserts, alcohol or social media, for example – in order to create more room in their hearts for prayer
and to acknowledge the sacrifice Jesus made for all of us in His death on the cross.

This year, we would like to encourage you to consider a slightly different Lenten sacrifice by giving food or a monetary donation as part of our Lent Challenge. Christ Open Marketplace depends on the food and monetary donations of generous donors to provide to people in need in our valley.

Please help us by participating in our Lenten Challenge by donating the 40 items of food each day listed on the Lenten brochure or by donating $1.00 for each day in Lent for a total of $40.00. If $40 is too expensive any gift would be greatly appreciated and will go a long way to provide food for families in our community.
